All the Old Knives (2022) – Review

Two CIA Agents and former lovers, Henry Pelham (Chris Pine) and Celia Harrison (Thandiwe Newton), are drafted back together years after a failed and traumatic rescue mission that involved the hijacking of a plane by international terrorists. Henry is sent to interview Celia and quiz her on her part of the mission, with the pair discussing the case over dinner. Through multiple perspectives, timelines, and interviews, Henry, and Celia hope to find out what truly transpired that day. Deep Water (2022) – Review

Vic van Allen (Ben Affleck) and Melina van Allen (Ana de Armas) are a wealthy couple with a young daughter, struggling in a seemingly loveless relationship, only held together by the bond of marriage and messiness of a potential divorce. Melinda is an attractive and daring woman that insists on pushing the boundaries with multiple affairs, but these infuriate her husband, who begins to take stern action. An unusual thriller that could have been much better than what eventually transpired.

Sicario 2 (2018) – Review

CIA agent Matt Graver (Josh Brolin) returns to enlist a mysterious operative, known as Alejandro (Benicio Del Toro), to investigate a Mexican drug cartel that has been smuggling terrorists into the United States, highlighted by a suicide bombing at a Kansas City grocery store that kills fifteen innocent civilians in the process. Their actions escalate the cartel situation further, resulting in various double-crossings and the occasional kidnapping. A thoroughly worthy film, but one that, in the eyes of some, doesn’t quite reach the dizzying heights of its predecessor.

The Counselor (2013) – Review

A greatly successful lawyer, better known as the Counselor (Michael Fassbender), finds himself engulfed in a drug trafficking scheme, before quickly realising things aren’t going as smoothly as he’d originally anticipated. When things take a wicked turn for the worse, he must protect not only himself, but his soon to be bride Laura (Penelope Cruz), before he and the men he is working with are slowly eliminated. A quirky thriller that’s less than predictable and was originally released to audiences in 2013.
