Deep Water (2022) – Review

Vic van Allen (Ben Affleck) and Melina van Allen (Ana de Armas) are a wealthy couple with a young daughter, struggling in a seemingly loveless relationship, only held together by the bond of marriage and messiness of a potential divorce. Melinda is an attractive and daring woman that insists on pushing the boundaries with multiple affairs, but these infuriate her husband, who begins to take stern action. An unusual thriller that could have been much better than what eventually transpired.

Sicario 2 (2018) – Review

This sequel sees CIA Agent Matt Graver (Josh Brolin) return to enlist a mysterious operative, known to us as Alejandro (Benicio Del Toro), to investigate a Mexican drug cartel that has been smuggling terrorists into the United States of America, emphasised greatly by a suicide bombing in a Kansas City grocery store, killing fifteen innocent civilians in the process. Their actions, however, escalate the cartel situation on the whole, resulting in various double crossings and the occasional kidnapping. A worthy film but one that in some peoples eyes, didn’t quite reach the dizzy heights of its predecessor.

The Counselor (2013) – Review

A greatly successful lawyer, better known as the Counselor (Michael Fassbender), finds himself engulfed in a drug trafficking scheme, before quickly realising things aren’t going as smoothly as he’d originally anticipated. When things take a wicked turn for the worse, he must protect not only himself, but his soon to be bride Laura (Penelope Cruz), before he and the men he is working with are slowly eliminated. A quirky thriller that’s less than predictable and was originally released to audiences in 2013.

Alcatraz, also known as the Rock, was labelled as one of the most secure prisons of its time. Located in the United States, it was firmly believed that nobody could ever escape from it, until three daring men, fronted by Frank Morris (Clint Eastwood) make a potentially successful attempt at getting out of the most infamous prison in the world. This classic production was originally released in 1979 and many believe it still holds itself in high regard to this day.
