Nightcrawler (2014) – Review

Lou Bloom (Jake Gyllenhaal) is a small-time thief, desperate for work in the gritty, underbelly of Los Angeles, California, before barging his way into the fascinating world of crime journalism, consequently becoming the star of his own story, blurring the line between that of an observer and an active participant. Nightcrawler received heaps of praise upon its release and it most certainly worth of a watch.

Law Abiding Citizen (2009) – Review

When the United States justice system fails to properly punish those responsible for a brutal crime, Clyde Shelton (Gerard Butler) takes matters into his own hands. What begins as a straightforward quest for revenge quickly evolves into a carefully planned assault on the legal system itself, leaving prosecutor Nick Rice (Jamie Foxx) struggling to keep up. Law Abiding Citizen is a compelling and thought-provoking film that still holds up perfectly in 2025. It’s worth noting that the movie is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Seven (1995) – Review

Two detectives, Somerset (Morgan Freeman) and Mills (Brad Pitt), join forces to hunt down a mysterious and methodical serial killer who is terrorising the city with a series of horrific murders, each one representing one of the seven deadly sins. As the investigation unfolds, the pair are drawn deeper into a dark and twisted game, where each new discovery is more disturbing than the last. A memorable crime flick that is one of the most well-known movies of our time. It’s worth noting that Seven is currently streaming on Netflix.

Saltburn (2023) – Review

Struggling away from home and finding his place at Oxford University, student Oliver Quick (Barry Keoghan) quickly finds himself drawn into the glitzy world of the charming and extremely wealthy Felix Catton (Jacob Elordi), who consequently invites him to Saltburn, his wildly eccentric family estate, for a summer never to be forgotten. A unique plot which will more than likely divide opinion, but in my eyes, worthy of a watch. Saltburn is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Jackie Brown (1997) – Review

A flight attendant named Jackie Brown (Pam Grier) has a criminal past, before getting picked up swiftly by American law enforcement. While under pressure to become an informant against the drug dealer she works for, she must ultimately find a way to protect her own future without being locked up or killed. A somewhat underrated film that is now over twenty-five years old. It’s worth noting that Jackie Brown is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
