Stowaway (2021) – Review

The highly trained crew of a spacecraft headed to Mars on a dangerous two-year mission, quickly learn that an accidental stowaway is also onboard with them, twelve-hours after takeoff. The crew are too far away from Earth to return to base, and with their own resources diminishing by the day, questions begin to arise regarding how each of the four people will finish the mission safely. Not quite as good as I had hoped and certainly not on the level of similar releases in the same genre, but watchable on the whole.

Ride or Die (2021) – Review

Rei Nagasawa (Kiko Mizuhara) is a woman that finds herself murdering the abusive husband of another woman that she’s been in love with for over ten years – Nanae Shinoda (Honami Sato). While on the run together after the murder, the pair rekindle their feelings and try to enjoy the last moments they have together, before their freedom is ultimately taken from them. An at times striking drama, filmed and captured in Japan, that has just been released to Netflix.

Seaspiracy (2021) – Review

This new, thought-provoking documentary highlights the damage that humans are really doing to our very own ocean life, while also uncovering an alarming amount of corruption that is happening on a global scale. Seaspiracy is available to stream on Netflix, but it has to be said that there are a number of extremely raw and upsetting scenes of animal cruelty included. If you’re able to get past that, however, I’d encourage anybody to watch this at least once in their lifetime.

A well-received comedy flick released in 2018 and now finding itself streaming on Netflix.

This is based on the story of George Jung (Johnny Depp), a man that quickly builds a reputation within the drug trade world to rise up and work alongside the Mexican cartel, to establish a thriving cocaine market in the United States. George must do his best to evade the authorities, thus avoiding jail time, along with providing for his family and proving his worth without disappointing anyone around him. A superb movie that is currently streaming on Netflix and one that soon celebrates its twentieth year since being released in 2001.
