Ocean’s Twelve (2004) – Review

Picking up three years after the events of Ocean’s Eleven, Danny Ocean (George Clooney) gathers his gang of fellow thieves and con artists to plan and execute another heist, this time based in Europe, in a desperate attempt to repay Terry (Danny Garcia) the money in which the group had previously stolen. A solid heist movie but somewhat different to its predecessor. It’s worth noting that Ocean’s Twelve is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Ocean’s Eleven (2001) – Review

With an elaborate scheme to strike it rich etched in his mind, slick con artist Danny Ocean (George Clooney), contacts his old friend, Rusty (Brad Pitt) the day he gets out of prison, in hope of assembling a team of specialists to rinse the impenetrable vault of three Las Vegas casinos, all owned by Terry Benedict (Danny Garcia). The prize would ultimately be one-hundred and fifty million dollars. An old-school heist movie that spawned two sequels. It’s worth noting that Ocean’s Eleven is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Blade Runner 2049 (2017) – Review

Set in 2049, a young blade runner known only as K (Ryan Gosling) discovers a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of the Los Angeles society into chaos. This secret quickly unravels, before eventually forcing him to track down the former blade runner, Deckard (Harrison Ford), who has been missing for thirty years. A solid film that has perhaps gone overlooked by many in recent years. Blade Runner 2049 is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Blade Runner (1982) – Review

Set in the early twenty-first century, the Tyrell Corporation, during what was called the Nexus phase, developed robots that were supposed to aid society. These were called “replicants”, and they were designed to look and act like humans. When four replicants commit murder and steal a ship in space, they return to Earth in hopes of finding their creator. A Blade Runner, known only as Deckard (Harrison Ford), is tasked with pursuing, and terminating all four. An iconic and thought-provoking Sci-Fi that spawned a recently released sequel. It’s worth noting that Blade Runner is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Dune 1 (2021) – Review

In the far future of humanity, year 10191 to be exact, Duke Leto (Oscar Isaac) accepts stewardship of a nearby dangerous desert planet named Arrakis. Arrakis sources one of the most valuable substances in the universe, “spice”, a drug that extends human life and provides improved levels of thought. The Duke’s family quickly become embroiled in a war for control over this substance, while the heir, Paul Atreides (Timothee Chalamet), becomes troubled by visions of a dark future. A visually beautiful flick that has received high praise since its release.

The Little Things (2021) – Review

Joe Deacon (Denzel Washington) is a Kern County Deputy Sheriff that has been ordered down to Los Angeles, California, for what should be a quick evidence gathering exercise. Unfortunately for him, he quickly becomes embroiled in the search of a serial killer with Jim Baxter (Rami Malek), the detective in charge of the entire operation that proves to have multiple layers. An effective and potent crime thriller with numerous twists and turns. It’s worth noting that The Little Things is currently streaming on Netflix.
