Girl on the Third Floor (2019) – Review

Don Koch, otherwise known as King Don, moves to the suburbs to renovate a recently acquired house but quickly discovers the situation is far more complex than first anticipated when supernatural events begin occurring around him. To make things worse, his pregnant wife is scheduled to arrive in the coming weeks and Don falls into bad habits, before unearthing the fact that the house is plagiarised with a sordid past. An at times promising movie that didn’t quite deliver on a whole, but worth the watch for any CM Punk fan.

Parasite (2019) – Review

A considerably poor and desperate family (the Kims) con their way into becoming workers for a rich household (the Parks) within the same district, where each family member manages to adopt a distinctively different role after they were all acquired in a wicked, dishonest and deceitful manner. Who comes out on top of this classic tale of rich vs poor? A good movie but one that perhaps didn’t quite live up to the hype that had been thrust upon it by most.

Good Time (2017) – Review

Connie Nikas (Robert Pattinson) is a man driven by a strong love for his mentally challenged brother, Nick Nikas (Benny Safdie), and finds himself determined to provide for a better future for the pair by robbing a bank. After the job is botched, Nick becomes the unfortunate one that finds himself locked up inside Rikers Island – much to the despair of Connie. From there, Connie’s tricky quest of freeing his brother begins. A relatively good watch that greatly shadows the more recent release, Uncut Gems. Good Time is currently streaming on Netflix.

Mudbound (2017) – Review

An impressive and equally as emotional tale of two men that return home from their World War 2 exploits to continue working for their respective families in Mississippi. One of the families being black and the other being white – they are forced to share the same patch of land but the relationship that the two returning veterans strike up begins to take center stage in a time of segregation and hatred. A really good movie and insight into what life must have been like for families from contrasting backgrounds during this era.

Murder Mystery 1 (2019) – Review

Nick Spitz (Adam Sandler) is a New York cop that takes his wife Audrey Spitz (Jennifer Aniston) on a long awaited European trip in an attempt to reinvigorate their relatively stale marriage. Instead, however, the pair end up tangled in the middle of a murder case after witnessing the death of an elderly billionaire. A solid Adam Sandler comedy flick that contains two or three genuine laugh out loud moments, but probably isn’t something you’ll be watching again anytime soon.

Non-Stop (2014) – Review

Bill Marks (Liam Neeson) is a highly skilled federal air marshal, traveling on a transatlantic flight from New York to London but at the same time he’s struggling to overcome his daughter’s tragic death – turning to drink as a result. While on duty, he receives a series of text messages from an apparent fellow passenger, demanding 150 million dollars to be transferred into an offshore bank account. If this isn’t done, the perpetrator promises to kill a fellow passengers every 20 minutes for the duration of the flight. A surprisingly entertaining movie that keeps you entertained and guessing from start to finish.
