Seven (1995) – Review

Two detectives, Somerset (Morgan Freeman) and Mills (Brad Pitt), join forces to hunt down a mysterious and methodical serial killer who is terrorising the city with a series of horrific murders, each one representing one of the seven deadly sins. As the investigation unfolds, the pair are drawn deeper into a dark and twisted game, where each new discovery is more disturbing than the last. A memorable crime flick that is one of the most well-known movies of our time. It’s worth noting that Seven is currently streaming on Netflix.

Western Wednesday – Edition #4

In this fourth edition of Western Wednesday, five classic Randolph Scott flicks will be reviewed, ranging all the way from 1957 to 1960 in terms of release. Interestingly, all five of the pictures fall under the “Ranown Cycle” that were directed by the American, Burt Boetticher, best remembered for his series of low-budget Westerns. As with every article and review on the website, this entire series will be spoiler-free.

Alien Romulus (2024) – Review

While scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station on a distant planet, a group of young space colonists come fact to face with the most terrifying life form in the entire universe, turning their initial mission into a race for survival. With limited resources and rising tensions, the group must outsmart the deadly life form before they become victims. Alien Romulus is a fairly entertaining and visually pleasing flick, but ultimately the limited character development may hold it back from being award worthy. It’s worth noting that Alien Romulus is currently streaming on Disney+.

A Memphis-based FedEx worker named Chuck Noland (Tom Hanks) finds himself alone and trapped on an unknown island after a traumatic plane crash. Chuck must summon all of his mental and physical strength to remain sane and fight his way back to his family in the United States, with a photograph of his partner, Kelly Hunt (Kelly Frears) keeping his hopes alive. Cast Away is an all-time classic thriller that is widely regarded as one of the best desert island based flicks of all time.

Saltburn (2023) – Review

Struggling away from home and finding his place at Oxford University, student Oliver Quick (Barry Keoghan) quickly finds himself drawn into the glitzy world of the charming and extremely wealthy Felix Catton (Jacob Elordi), who consequently invites him to Saltburn, his wildly eccentric family estate, for a summer never to be forgotten. A unique plot which will more than likely divide opinion, but in my eyes, worthy of a watch. Saltburn is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
