A married couple from war-torn South Sudan, Bol Majur (Sope Dirisu) and Rial Majur (Wunmi Mosaku), manage to escape the dangerous life they once led, only to find themselves struggling to adapt to their new beginning in England. When the pair gain access to their new accommodation, there seems to be some evil lurking beneath the surface that rears its ugly head and begins to taunt the two refugees. A new horror based drama that has just been added to Netflix.
Based on the beachside of an American Air Force base in Guam, Congressional aide Erica (Kat Graham) is tasked with unearthing reasons as to why the facility should be defunded and closed. Captain Andrew Jantz (Alexander Ludwig) is assigned to show the aide around, but it’s quickly apparent that the pair begin to clash after the real reasons for the visit start to shine through. A new romcom with a Christmas based feel released by Netflix that isn’t the worst way to spend an evening, but it’s probably not the best either.
A mysterious man, known only by the name of Joe (Clint Eastwood), rides into a hostile town, divided by a violent and bloody war between two families – the Baxters and the Rojos. Despite being warned that most that enter the town either flee in fear or die for their troubles, Joe decides to stay and work out a way in which he can play the two feuding families against each other, for his own personal and financial gain. A classic American western that many regard as one of Eastwood’s finest.
Two people, Sloane (Emma Roberts) and Jackson (Luke Bracey), despise being single on holidays because it means they are faced with a barrage of heavy and unnecessary judgement from their overbearing families about their relationship status. When the pair cross paths, however, they decide to sign up to the notion of being each other’s “holidate” for any festive occasion that they must attend. A new, easy to watch and laid-back Netflix release that effortlessly takes the viewer through various different holidays of the year.
Leonard Shelby (Guy Pearce) is a former insurance worker who is incapable of building new memories after a violent attempt on his life, where he consequently lost his wife. While attempting to find the people responsible for this act, he must rely on his own notes and messages to remember certain things, along with his own instinct, while questioning the relationships he builds throughout. A classic throwback from the year 2000 that truly marked the start of Christopher Nolan’s legacy on cinema.
After two astronauts are forced to work together to survive an accident leaving them stranded in outer space, things quickly become more complex than they’d originally hoped. Their shuttle is destroyed, leaving them alone, spiralling quickly into the blackness. This highly rated blockbuster managed to claim a staggering seven Oscar awards along with a countless number of other wins and nominations too. A visually spectacular movie but one that didn’t quite live up to the lofty expectations some had set.
