Arrival (2016) – Review

An expert in linguistics, Louise Banks (Amy Adams), fronts a group of elite investigators when twelve unknown spaceships touchdown in twelve different locations around the globe. With tensions between nations soaring, the team of investigators must find a way to communicate with the extra-terrestrial visitors before it’s too late. A highly acclaimed movie that was originally released in 2016 and is currently streaming on Netflix.

American Honey – 2016

Star (Sasha Lane), a teenager with very little to lose, is charmed into joining a group of traveling misfits on their quest to sell magazines across America. While riding the turbulent waves of partying, law bending and young love, Star and the rest of her group do their best to survive, while also doing their best to have fun and experience life to its fullest. A greatly underappreciated movie in my opinion, with a lengthy but worthwhile runtime.

A Quiet Place 2 (2020) – Review

In this sequel, the Abbott family face the terrors of the outside world, following the tragic events that occurred previously at their home. Venturing into the wild unknown, they each quickly come to the realisation that the alien creatures, hunting any form of sound, are not the only deadly threat on the prowl. A Quiet Place 2 has recently been released to cinemas and certainly boasts more positives than negatives.

Body Brokers (2021) – Review

Utah (Jack Kilmer) is a young man, invited to Los Angeles for treatment to correct his long-running issues with drug abuse. The recovering addict quickly learns that the rehab center he was introduced to, is not all about helping people at all, but mainly a cover for a multi-million-dollar operation that includes addicts recruiting other addicts that they know of. An insightful movie, more than worth the watch, but at the same time, probably not one with much kind of rewatch value.

Sicario 1 (2015) – Review

Kate Macer (Emily Blunt), a young and somewhat inexperienced FBI Agent is recruited onto a covert government task force, which has been formed to assist in the escalating war against drugs on the border between the United States and Mexico. Given very little information about the methods and eventual targets of the task force, she soon comes to the realisation that their means of doing things are extremely unorthodox. A widely favoured film that was originally released in 2015 and landed a sequel not long after that.

All Good Things (2010) – Review

David Marks (Ryan Gosling) is a privileged, yet troubled young man, stemming from an extremely wealthy background, who is suspected of murdering his own wife, Katie Marks (Kirsten Dunst). This tragic love story, turned murder mystery, is based on one of New York’s most notorious unsolved murder cases. An at times gripping film that was originally released in 2010, and is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
