Alien Romulus (2024) – Review

While scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station on a distant planet, a group of young space colonists come fact to face with the most terrifying life form in the entire universe, turning their initial mission into a race for survival. With limited resources and rising tensions, the group must outsmart the deadly life form before they become victims. Alien Romulus is a fairly entertaining and visually pleasing flick, but ultimately the limited character development may hold it back from being award worthy. It’s worth noting that Alien Romulus is currently streaming on Disney+.

Alien 1 (1979) – Review

Sometime in the distant future, a seven-person crew upon a commercial spaceship named “Nostromo”, stumble upon a distress call from a planet not too far away. Under obligation to investigate, the group descend onto the small planet, but quickly discover that the original message was a warning, not a distress call, before coming to the realisation that life is in fact prevalent there. Alien still manages to hold up in 2023 as being an extremely entertaining flick. It’s worth noting that Alien is currently streaming on Disney+.

Planet of the Apes (1968) – Review

In the year A.D 3978, a spaceship and its small crew unexpectedly crash land on a distant planet. Upon wandering the unknown landscape for some time, the crew then learn that mute humans reside there, along with an intelligent race of talking apes, who regard themselves as the original beings and will do absolutely anything to keep humans suppressed. An all-time great that still stands up rather memorably in 2022. It’s worth noting that Planet of the Apes is currently streaming on Disney+.

Alien Covenant (2017) – Review

The year is 2104 and the spaceship Covenant is heading towards a remote planet in order to colonise it. The ship’s captain, however, is killed in a freak accident, leaving another man in charge. The newly instated captain then makes the decision to investigate a planet that is nearby, after hearing a rogue transmission. Following the decision to explore the planet, dramatic and deadly consequences start to occur. A fairly enjoyable film that certainly started better than it finished.
