The Killer Inside Me (2010) – Review

After becoming besotted with a prostitute living in a rural area of the county, a West Texas Deputy Sheriff named Lou Ford (Casey Affleck), is slowly unmasked as a psychotic and extremely dangerous killer in the mid 1950’s. Keen on plotting revenge for the death of his much loved step-brother, he uses the people around him to ultimately murder the son of Chester Conway (Ned Beatty), the town’s wealthy and well-known king of construction. A fascinating and thought-provoking murder mystery film that is certainly worth a watch.

Living under the strict orders of an Arkansas drug kingpin named Frog (Vince Vaughn), both Kyle (Liam Hemsworth) and Swin (Clark Duke), form an unlikely bond before getting involved in a deal that goes dreadfully wrong. The duo must then do their best to keep the situation under control, but unfortunately the chaos begins to snowball, leading to more deadly consequences. A surprisingly exciting thriller that has just started streaming on Netflix.

Memento (2000) – Review

Leonard Shelby (Guy Pearce) is a former insurance worker who is incapable of building new memories after a violent attempt on his life, where he consequently lost his wife. While attempting to find the people responsible for this act, he must rely on his own notes and messages to remember certain things, along with his own instinct, while questioning the relationships he builds throughout. A classic throwback from the year 2000 that truly marked the start of Christopher Nolan’s legacy on cinema.

I See You (2019) – Review

A detective and his family are terrorised by some rather strange and bizarre occurrences that seem to be unexplainable. While juggling these issues with the disappearance of a young boy in the small town they live in, things quickly become more complicated and far more sinister after the emergence of two local “phroggers”. An impressive release that has to go down as one of the best movies I’ve seen in recent months. I See You is currently streaming on Netflix.

When a seemingly innocent hunter stumbles across the aftermath of a drug deal gone wrong in rural Texas, his natural curiosity sees him take the two-million-dollar loot but things quickly escalate when a psychotic killer known as Anton Chigurh (Javier Bardem) begins murdering every rival, bystander and even employer in his own pursuit of the cash. A sensational movie from start to finish and arguably one of finest cat and mouse tales of our generation. No Country for Old Men is now streaming on Netflix.

The Night Clerk (2020) – Review

An extremely intelligent night clerk with Asperger syndrome is witness to a woman’s brutal murder during his work shift, Bart Bromley (Tye Sheridan) consequently becomes the number one suspect in the case, but unbeknown to the police, his habit of voyeurism means he’s captured the event in its entirety, thus proving his innocence. While growing close to another guest named Andrea Rivera (Ana de Armas), he must prevent her from being the next victim, while also unmasking the real killer. A surprisingly impressive movie that is currently streaming on Netflix.
