The Bourne Supremacy (2004) – Review

Plagued by nightmares and haunted by his past, Jason Bourne (Matt Damon) is framed by the American CIA following an operation that goes badly wrong. As a result, he is forced to return to his former life as a trained assassin, not only to prove his innocence, but to survive the relentless pursuit closing in around him. A solid sequel that offers a solid blend between action and drama, that rarely slows down in terms of pacing.

The Bourne Identity (2002) – Review

A bullet-riddled man suffering from amnesia is picked up and saved from rough waters just south of Marseille, France by a fishing boat. Once recovered, he must begin to piece together his own story while attempting to elude the dangerous assassins relentlessly hunting him down. An effective action flick that balances the intense scenes with a strong sense of story and suspense throughout the modest runtime.

Nightcrawler (2014) – Review

Lou Bloom (Jake Gyllenhaal) is a small-time thief, desperate for work in the gritty, underbelly of Los Angeles, California, before barging his way into the fascinating world of crime journalism, consequently becoming the star of his own story, blurring the line between that of an observer and an active participant. Nightcrawler received heaps of praise upon its release and it most certainly worth of a watch.

Law Abiding Citizen (2009) – Review

When the United States justice system fails to properly punish those responsible for a brutal crime, Clyde Shelton (Gerard Butler) takes matters into his own hands. What begins as a straightforward quest for revenge quickly evolves into a carefully planned assault on the legal system itself, leaving prosecutor Nick Rice (Jamie Foxx) struggling to keep up. Law Abiding Citizen is a compelling and thought-provoking film that still holds up perfectly in 2025. It’s worth noting that the movie is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Seven (1995) – Review

Two detectives, Somerset (Morgan Freeman) and Mills (Brad Pitt), join forces to hunt down a mysterious and methodical serial killer who is terrorising the city with a series of horrific murders, each one representing one of the seven deadly sins. As the investigation unfolds, the pair are drawn deeper into a dark and twisted game, where each new discovery is more disturbing than the last. A memorable crime flick that is one of the most well-known movies of our time. It’s worth noting that Seven is currently streaming on Netflix.

Cast Away (2000) – Review

A Memphis-based FedEx worker named Chuck Noland (Tom Hanks) finds himself alone and trapped on an unknown island after a traumatic plane crash. Chuck must summon all of his mental and physical strength to remain sane and fight his way back to his family in the United States, with a photograph of his partner, Kelly Hunt (Kelly Frears) keeping his hopes alive. Cast Away is an all-time classic thriller that is widely regarded as one of the best desert island based flicks of all time.
