The year is 2093 and a small team of explorers, spearheaded by the accomplished archaeologist, Doctor Elizabeth Shaw (Noomi Rapace), find a structure on a distant moon, hoping it shows clues to the origin of mankind, only to soon realise they are not alone on the desolate exomoon, LV-223. An appealing film that was somewhat criticised upon its release in 2012 – Prometheus is now streaming on the Display+ platform.
Lars (Aksel Hennie) and Lisa (Noomi Repace) are a dysfunctional married couple heading to a remote cabin in an attempt to reconnect as a pair and rekindle their love. However, each actually have the intention to kill the other, but before either can carry out their plan of execution, an unexpected turn of events occur, and visitors arrive to present an even greater danger. This new addition to the Netflix streaming service suits the time of the year well and certainly wasn’t the worst release of 2021.
Natalie Dadich (Ashley Greene) and Kevin Dadich (Shawn Ashmore) are a young couple, going through some pretty severe turmoil in their relationship, but the pair decide that it would be a good idea to purchase a new home, in an attempt of solving their problems. With a questionable past, the home does represent financial sense, but the pair end up with more than what they had originally bargained for. Aftermath is the latest, low budget flick to hit our Netflix screens, which may lack a little bit of creativity, but certainly comes across as watchable on the whole.
A group of armed and dangerous terrorists hijack a transatlantic plane heading to the United States from Europe, but unbeknownst to them, a woman suffering from a mysterious illness is also on the flight and is quickly called into action to try and prevent the deaths of everyone onboard. Not the worst way to spend an evening, especially considering some of the newer material released lately on our streaming services. It’s also worth noting that Blood Red Sky is currently available to watch on Netflix.
An experienced monk who holds his prayer beads in one hand and a deadly axe in the other, aims to hunt down an age-old spirit that has awoken, and at the same time is determined to cause as much carnage and devastation as possible on planet Earth, by possessing humans one by one. An interesting and unique concept brought to us by a set of Korean filmmakers. It’s worth noting that The 8th Night is currently streaming on Netflix.
Father Peter (Guy Pearce) a well renowned exorcist teams up with a rookie priest called Father Daniel (Vadhir Derbez) and the pair delve deep into a case surrounding the death of an American family. As they plunge deeper into the mystery surrounding the deaths, the lines between good and evil begin to blur and each of their own inner demons begin to appear. The Seventh Day provides one or two scary moments of suspense, along with a half decent story, but it’s fair to say that the film doesn’t hold too much rewatch value.
