Cast Away (2000) – Review

A Memphis-based FedEx worker named Chuck Noland (Tom Hanks) finds himself alone and trapped on an unknown island after a traumatic plane crash. Chuck must summon all of his mental and physical strength to remain sane and fight his way back to his family in the United States, with a photograph of his partner, Kelly Hunt (Kelly Frears) keeping his hopes alive. Cast Away is an all-time classic thriller that is widely regarded as one of the best desert island based flicks of all time.

Apollo 13 (1995) – Review

Less than one year since man first walked on the Moon, Apollo 13 should have been just another routine space flight, until the immense void of outer space had its say. Stranded hundreds of thousands of miles from Earth in a semi-destroyed spacecraft, astronauts Jim Lovell (Tom Hanks), Fred Haise (Bill Paxton) and Jack Swigert (Kevin Bacon) must fight a desperate battle to survive and reach their homeland, in this race against time drama. A solid cast lead this must-watch Sci-Fi for any space lovers out there.

News of the World (2020) – Review

After a young girl is taken by the Kiowa people many years ago, Captain Kidd (Tom Hanks), a war veteran that now drifts from town to town as a non-fiction storyteller, is tasked with returning her to distant biological relatives that are based over two-hundred miles away. The pair then enlist on the treacherous journey, filled with grave dangers, while also searching for a place that either can call home. News of the World was released originally in December 2020, but this past weekend hit our Netflix screens.

The Green Mile (1999) – Review

In the 1930’s, prison guards responsible for patrolling death row at a penitentiary, come across a moral dilemma when they quickly discover that John Coffey (Michael Clarke Duncan), a new inmate and a convicted murderer, has an unexplained supernatural gift that he is slowly demonstrating while on death row. A masterful movie that will go down as one of the finest to hit our screens. The Green Mile is currently streaming on Netflix.
