Alien 1 (1979) – Review

Sometime in the distant future, a seven-person crew upon a commercial spaceship named “Nostromo”, stumble upon a distress call from a planet not too far away. Under obligation to investigate, the group descend onto the small planet, but quickly discover that the original message was a warning, not a distress call, before coming to the realisation that life is in fact prevalent there. Alien still manages to hold up in 2023 as being an extremely entertaining flick. It’s worth noting that Alien is currently streaming on Disney+.

Never Grow Old (2019) – Review

A once-peaceful frontier town in the United States becomes victor of a vicious attach by outlaw Dutch Albert (John Cusack) and his two followers. The trio begin gunning down their opposition while the town’s Undertaker, Patrick Tate (Emile Hirsch), must chose between the blood money he’s been given for burying the people being murdered and the threat these people bring to his family. An underrated feature that comes highly recommended. Never Grow Old is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

The Duel (2016) – Review

After witnessing the death of his father in a gruesome knife duel twenty years previous, David Kingston (Liam Hemsworth), who is now a Texas Ranger, is tasked by his commandant to investigate a series of unexplained murders in a small town on the American and Mexican border. The man responsible is thought to be Abraham (Woody Harrelson), the leader of the town. An interesting western that supplied more than enough intrigue and suspense throughout. The Duel is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Maren (Taylor Russell) is a young woman learning how to survive on her own, while discovering things about herself that very few people can understand. When she meets Lee (Timothee Chalamet), they join forces and embark on a road trip across America. Despite their best efforts, all the roads taken ultimately lead back to their terrifying pasts and to a final stand that will determine whether love can survive their oddities.

Extraction 2 (2023) – Review

Upon barely surviving his grievous wounds from a dangerous mission in Dhaka, Bengladesh, Tyler Rake (Chris Hemsworth) is healed and ready to get back into action. He, along with his team, are tasked with their next mission, to rescue a family from feuding Georgian gang members. An intense and at times, emotional release that has just began streaming on Netflix.

The Wolf of Wall Street (2013) – Review

It’s the early 1990’s and Jordan Belfort (Leonardo DiCaprio), teams up with his friend and partner Donnie Azoff (Jonah Hill), to start a brokerage firm, which quickly grows from a small number of staff to more than two-hundred and fifty strong. Their status in the trading community grows, while other companies begin to become envious. With this success comes attention and the need to fund lavish lifestyles, along with an FBI investigation. Can the pair maintain their elaborate lives while being watched closely by the law? A unique flick that is worth anyone’s time. The Wolf of Wall Street is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
