A Memphis-based FedEx worker named Chuck Noland (Tom Hanks) finds himself alone and trapped on an unknown island after a traumatic plane crash. Chuck must summon all of his mental and physical strength to remain sane and fight his way back to his family in the United States, with a photograph of his partner, Kelly Hunt (Kelly Frears) keeping his hopes alive. Saltburn (2023) – Review

Struggling away from home and finding his place at Oxford University, student Oliver Quick (Barry Keoghan) quickly finds himself drawn into the glitzy world of the charming and extremely wealthy Felix Catton (Jacob Elordi), who consequently invites him to Saltburn, his wildly eccentric family estate, for a summer never to be forgotten. A unique plot which will more than likely divide opinion, but in my eyes, worthy of a watch. Saltburn is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Bullet Train (2022) – Review

An unlucky assassin known only as Ladybug (Brad Pitt) is determined to do his job peacefully and properly, after one too many missions have recently gone off the rails. Fate, however, has other plans, with the latest task putting him on a collision course with lethal adversaries from all around the globe. An enjoyable comic-book-like flick that is certainly recommended. It’s worth noting that Bullet Train is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Fury (2014) – Review

In April of 1945 during the latter stages of World War 2, a battle-hardened army veteran named Don Collier (Brad Pitt) spearheads a five-man tank crew on a dangerous and potentially deadly mission, far behind enemy lines, fighting the German army head on. Greatly outnumbered and massively outgunned, the five men face overwhelming odds in their heroic attempts to defend themselves against the enemy. A dark and at times unsettling war flick featuring an all-star cast. It’s worth noting that Fury is currently streaming on Netflix.

The Black Tent (1956) – Review

Deep in the African desert, a British man named Charles Holland (Donald Sinden) is on a mission to find his brother, David Holland (Anthony Steel), a soldier who had recently been reported as missing. Upon arriving at the camp in which his brother had last been seen, he quickly begins to realise that this disappearance isn’t as straight-forward as he’d hoped. With help from the locals, the truth quickly begins to reveal itself. An interesting drama with elements of romance and war blended well together.

Jackie Brown (1997) – Review

A flight attendant named Jackie Brown (Pam Grier) has a criminal past, before getting picked up swiftly by American law enforcement. While under pressure to become an informant against the drug dealer she works for, she must ultimately find a way to protect her own future without being locked up or killed. A somewhat underrated film that is now over twenty-five years old. It’s worth noting that Jackie Brown is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
