Running with the Devil (2019) – Review

After a batch of cocaine being smuggled all the way from Colombia to Canada (via the United States) is curiously lost along the way, the head of a drug cartel instructs one of his workers to figure out where and what exactly went wrong in a bid to ensure it never happens again. Cook (Nicolas Cage) is the worker in question and must attempt to find out who is meddling with the batch, especially when people taking the drug suddenly start dying. A fairly short and easy movie to follow that does a great job in keeping the viewers interest from the start.

Life (2017) – Review

This extraordinary movie centers around six astronauts who discover the first ever living cell on Mars. After researching the cell on the International Space Station (ISS), the cell begins to grow into a larger life form and the astronauts then discover just how dangerous and potentially deadly it could become. Each of the six crew members must work together to keep it from reaching earth and causing damage on land. A gripping and equally as fascinating movie that keeps you on the edge of your seat from the off with a refreshing ending that is guaranteed to leave you shocked.

Girl on the Third Floor (2019) – Review

Don Koch, otherwise known as King Don, moves to the suburbs to renovate a recently acquired house but quickly discovers the situation is far more complex than first anticipated when supernatural events begin occurring around him. To make things worse, his pregnant wife is scheduled to arrive in the coming weeks and Don falls into bad habits, before unearthing the fact that the house is plagiarised with a sordid past. An at times promising movie that didn’t quite deliver on a whole, but worth the watch for any CM Punk fan.

The Pharmacist – Review

After losing his son to a drug-related murder in 1999, a small-town pharmacist, Dan Schneider, decides to investigate the New Orleans based homicide in the sole pursuit of gaining justice for his son. Unbeknown to Dan, his efforts would unearth a troubling trend of young, seemingly healthy people being sucked into the world of OxyContin painkillers. This is more of a documentary that focuses on the merging of two stories – one being Daniel Jr’s death and the second being the resulting investigation that followed.

Parasite (2019) – Review

A considerably poor and desperate family (the Kims) con their way into becoming workers for a rich household (the Parks) within the same district, where each family member manages to adopt a distinctively different role after they were all acquired in a wicked, dishonest and deceitful manner. Who comes out on top of this classic tale of rich vs poor? A good movie but one that perhaps didn’t quite live up to the hype that had been thrust upon it by most.

Good Time (2017) – Review

Connie Nikas (Robert Pattinson) is a man driven by a strong love for his mentally challenged brother, Nick Nikas (Benny Safdie), and finds himself determined to provide for a better future for the pair by robbing a bank. After the job is botched, Nick becomes the unfortunate one that finds himself locked up inside Rikers Island – much to the despair of Connie.
