1883 – Review

Set way back in the year of 1883, the post-American Civil War generation of the Dutton family join a wagon train, led by Shea Brennan (Sam Elliot), on an audacious and gruelling trip from Texas to Oregon, before settling down in Montana to establish what would eventually become the Yellowstone ranch. While connected to the Yellowstone legacy, 1883 stands as a brutal and gripping story that has gained widespread recognition since its release in 2021. It’s worth noting that 1883 is currently streaming on Netflix.

Seven (1995) – Review

Two detectives, Somerset (Morgan Freeman) and Mills (Brad Pitt), join forces to hunt down a mysterious and methodical serial killer who is terrorising the city with a series of horrific murders, each one representing one of the seven deadly sins. As the investigation unfolds, the pair are drawn deeper into a dark and twisted game, where each new discovery is more disturbing than the last. A memorable crime flick that is one of the most well-known movies of our time. It’s worth noting that Seven is currently streaming on Netflix.

Western Wednesday – Edition #4

In this fourth edition of Western Wednesday, five classic Randolph Scott flicks will be reviewed, ranging all the way from 1957 to 1960 in terms of release. Interestingly, all five of the pictures fall under the “Ranown Cycle” that were directed by the American, Burt Boetticher, best remembered for his series of low-budget Westerns. Alien Romulus (2024) – Review

While scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station on a distant planet, a group of young space colonists come fact to face with the most terrifying life form in the entire universe, turning their initial mission into a race for survival. With limited resources and rising tensions, the group must outsmart the deadly life form before they become victims. Alien Romulus is a fairly entertaining and visually pleasing flick, but ultimately the limited character development may hold it back from being award worthy. It’s worth noting that Alien Romulus is currently streaming on Disney+.
